Prakhar Avasthi, a former hockey player at national level, has always been a goal -oriented person. When he realized how much weight he had won on a sedentary job in three years, the IT professional in Delhi knew that he had to make some drastic lifestyle changes.

“Until the university I was very active and I enjoyed sports. Once I started working, I got busy and I could never find the time,” says Prakhar. Spending long hours at his desk, in combination with poor food choices and irregular meals, ensured that his weight rose to 84 kg. Soon family and friends started to express their concern about his weight gain. Prakhar himself could not shake the feeling of gravity. “I was always listless,” he recalls, and that was enough of a wake-up call.

While he was looking for a fitness plan online, Las Prakhar about Healthifyme and downloaded the app in May 2016. A day later he received a phone call from the Healthyme diet coach Sapna Sangtani. “Sapna asked me about my daily meal plan and asked me to make a number of small but very useful changes. To prevent meals from becoming monotonous, Sapna changed the plan at regular intervals. Although she did not prevent him from eating out, but recommending that he eats fixed portions when she has made it to Prakhar for the past five months to eat only home-made food. “Participation in Healthify not only changed my food habits, people around me also eat healthier,” he says.

‘Training every morning, I felt my endurance increasing by the day’

That is the main reason why he chose a routine for the training workout for the home. “The fitness levels of Prakhar were okay, so after I started him for a few weeks on stretch, I gave him a cardio, resistance and circuit training plan,” says Sremememanth, and explained that a combination is important to increase the lean muscle mass and lower the fat percentage.

He asked Prakhar to invest in dumbbells, Kettlebells (for resistance training) and a Swiss ball (also known as a practice ball, for cardio) for the best results. “The kettlebell and Swiss baltrainingen are my personal favorites because you can use them to imitate a gym routine at home,” says Srememanth, who changed the training plan to the 4-6 weeks to prevent Prakhar hit a weight lossplateau.

Prakhar started with the video demonstrations that Sriememanth has emailed and began to feel his endurance increasing day by day. “Earlier I would wake up early and waste time on my phone. Now, from 5.30 am to 7 am, I go for a walk or do my exercises, depending on the plan. After exercising I feel energetic all day,” he says.

‘My trainers deserve the honor because they are vigilant and motivate me to stay on the right track’

Prakhar credit his trainers Sapna and Srememanth because they are vigilant and keep him motivated. “Sapna calls me regularly to check how my diet goes, and if I am too busy taking on the call, she drops a message on WhatsApp and asks me about my meals,” says Prakhar, adding that Srememanth is planting the training routines around his busy schedule. The trainer places the credit back in the corner of his customer. “The success of Prakhar is 100% a consequence of his dedication. You don’t always find people who are as inspired as he,” says Srememanth.

With 72 kg, three kilos under his target weight of 75 kg, Prakhar is now working on maintaining his health. He also wants to inspire others for a healthier, fitter life. “When people see how much weight I have lost, they want to know that I am doing it. I am happy to share my experience because I want to motivate others to do the same. People must know that it is not difficult to lose weight,” he says. “Fitness is not something that you have to follow, it’s how you should live your life. That is what I learned after becoming a member of Healthifyme.”
