CONCORD – An electrical power outage on Wednesday ensured that Bart closed the service on the line that serves centrally and eastern counter -costa county.
Service on the yellow line between the Walnut Creek and Concord stations went black at 12.30 pm due to a power outage at a substation, said spokesperson Chris Filippi. Earlier, that power outage prevented the service between Concord and Pittsburg/Bay Point, he said.
The yellow line runs from Antiochen via transfer stations in Oakland, across the bay and to San Francisco International Airport.
Bart had no estimate for when the service would be fully restored.
Bart have plagued major delays and shutdowns since May. Inappropriate track maintenance trains hit San Francisco on 11 June. A fire near the tracks between the Daly City and Balboa Park stations ensured that Bart closed the service between those stations between 27 May on 27 May, the day that Bart opened again after a fire near the San Leandro station The previous work influenced the services between the Lake Merritt, Berryessa and Dublin Stations.
On May 9, the desk suffered a system -wide closure that struck thousands of commuters and all 50 Bart stations closed almost five hours. That closure was caused by a problem with network connectivity, as a result of which controllers did not see any train locations on the tracks and made the safe operation of the system impossible.
This is a developing story. Come back for updates.
