Great to see on Newcastle United’s goalscoring front.

In the 2024/25 season, Eddie Howe’s side scored 37 goals in their first 22 games in all competitions.

In the first 22 games of this 2025/26 season, Newcastle United’s players have surpassed that.

The running total is 38 Newcastle United goals after 22 games, just one more than after 22 games last season.

However, there are plenty of other positives.

This is how Newcastle United’s 38 goals have been shared so far:

Woltemade 7, Barnes 7, Gordon 6, Bruno 5, Joelinton 3, Osula 3, Murphy 2, Thiaw 2, Burn 1, Miley 1, Schar 1

As you can see, eleven different Newcastle United players have shared these goals so far, rather than one individual dominating.

Last season there were a total of 13 different Newcastle United players who had scored at least one goal last season. I’m sure there will be more goalscorers at Newcastle United by the end of May, especially with the likes of Wissa, Tonali, Elanga, Willock and Ramsey yet to score.

A total of 88 Newcastle United goals (across all competitions) were scored in the 2024/25 season, these were shared as follows:

Isak 27, Barnes 9, Gordon 9, Murphy 9, Schar 6 Tonali 6, Bruno 5, Joelinton 4, Willock 3, Burn 2, Miley 2, Osula 2, Wilson 1, own goals 3

Last season, Newcastle United was the only player to reach double figures in terms of goals, where you know who scored at least three times as many as any other player.

This season it looks like Newcastle United will have a much better foundation, in terms of distributing the goals, rather than being so dependent on one individual.

I think instead of one player reaching double figures, I think we could see five or more Newcastle players doing it by the end of the season. My money goes to Woltemade, Gordon, Barnes, Bruno and…Wissa for doing this.

Bruno has already equaled last season’s five goals thanks to that audacious corner against Burnley, the United captain generally looks much more dangerous when it comes to goal threat, while Joelinton is also just one goal away from last season’s total in midfield.

After just four goals in the first six games of this season, Newcastle United have scored 34 in the last sixteen.

United have scored an average of two healthy goals in their last sixteen matches and ten goals have been scored by Newcastle United in their last four Premier League matches.

Another huge positive, however, is that Eddie Howe’s team have actually created far more good scoring chances than Newcastle United’s total number of goals would suggest. If they can maintain that creativity, or improve it further, which I expect will be the case, then I think we will see the average number of goals scored increase above what it is now, as we start to see the NUFC players converting many more chances on average.
