Pos Malaysia has partnered with Autonomous Logistic Solutions (ALS) for the first autonomous logistics implementation of its kind in Malaysia. As part of the collaboration agreement, both parties will conduct a six-month proof-of-concept trial, which will see a Zelos autonomous vehicle (AV) supplied by ALS deployed within Pos Malaysia’s operational environment.

Zelos operates more than 15,000 autonomous vehicles in countries such as China, Singapore and the United Arab Emirates, with ALS being the exclusive Malaysian partner responsible for bringing, locating and operationalizing Zelos vehicles in Malaysia.

The trial will serve as a crucial first step towards on-road adoption, supported by close collaboration with the Ministry of Transport, Department of Road Transport (JPJ) and Futuris to ensure alignment with regulatory, safety and national frameworks for autonomous vehicles.

“Our autonomous vehicle initiative marks a crucial milestone in our journey to transform Pos Malaysia into a modern, innovative and sustainable logistics provider. Zelos represents more than just technological advancement, it represents a concrete step towards more sustainable and efficient business operations,” said Tan Sri Syed Faisal Albar, Chairman of Pos Malaysia.

“The technology has the potential to reduce fuel consumption, optimize delivery routes and minimize waste in our daily operations. We are proud to be at the forefront of Malaysia’s digital evolution and leading the industry into a new era of automation,” he added.

The Zelos AV is fully electric and features an extensive sensor suite that enables Level 4 autonomy, meaning it is completely driverless. According to Pos Malaysia, the zero-emission autonomous logistics vehicle is purpose-built for business-to-business (B2B) freight transport, especially large, repetitive, point-to-point delivery operations.

Digital Nasional (DNB) is also involved as a strategic partner to ALS for 5G connectivity, a key aspect for enabling advanced autonomous use cases. Pos Malaysia’s venture into autonomous logistics builds on its sustainable mobility initiative, which has resulted in the operation of the country’s largest fleet of electric vehicles (EV). The company says it has more than 1,500 electric motorcycles and vans, with 25% of its entire fleet now fully electric.

“Today we are not just launching an autonomous vehicle, we are launching Malaysia into a new logistics era. This autonomous pioneer is a testament to our commitment to innovation, efficiency and serving the future of our country. We are immensely proud to lead this transformative journey, and we are energized by the potential this unlocks for our customers and for the entire country. This is the first mile of a very long and exciting road for Pos Malaysia,” said Charles Brewer, Group CEO of Pos Malaysia.

“This partnership with Pos Malaysia moves autonomous logistics from pilot projects to live operations. By seamlessly integrating into existing mail and parcel workflows, we demonstrate that Level 4 autonomy is ready for real-world deployment. Together with Pos Malaysia, this sets a national precedent for broader industrial adoption and opens a clear path for autonomous vehicles to hit Malaysian roads soon,” said Alan Chong, Managing Director of ALS.
