Portsmouth have made inquiries about the availability of Andrew Moran after his loan spell at LAFC came to an end Chris Wise.

Portsmouth faces an exciting second half of the season as disappointing results continue to pile up. Pompey are just three points outside the bottom three after a run of four games without defeat.

John Mousinho’s side were solid in their first season in the Championship last year, but this season has told a very different story. The South Coast team has just six wins and is the second lowest scorer in the division.

However, that recent unbeaten run gives them something to build on heading into January, and investment is needed this month. Pompey already appear to be taking steps, with Andrew Moran on their radar, according to Chris Wise.

Moran was loaned to LAFC in 2025, but after his loan spell ended, Portsmouth launched an investigation. It is not known whether Pompey are exploring a new loan for Moran or are eyeing a permanent move.

What would Moran offer Portsmouth?

In his youth career, Moran was mainly used as an attacking midfielder or winger. During his time at Blackburn Rovers he showed his versatility by operating in midfield, including in a deeper central role.

In his time at both Rovers and Stoke City he showed that his greatest strengths lie in the ball. Moran looked confident in possession, unafraid to take on opponents and able to create chances wherever he was deployed.

He also showed a growing willingness to contribute defensively, which added spice to his game. That side of his game developed after spending much of his youth career in ball retention and attacking work at Brighton.

Portsmouth could benefit from the addition of a player like Moran ahead of the second half of the season. With safety the target for Pompey, his versatility and technical ability would make him a strong asset.

Interest is expected for Pompey stars in January

Despite Portsmouth’s poor season, they have some real assets that could be of interest to rival clubs. If they want to have a chance of survival this season, they need to hold on to their star players.

Callum Lang and Josh Murphy There are two who are very likely to receive offers from other Championship teams. The pair were the subject of offers this summer, but Pompey held out.

Now Portsmouth may also lose loan player Yang Ming-hyeok This month, linked to a shock move to Real Madrid, they cannot afford to lose Lang or Murphy.

New additions are important as things stand for Pompey. However, they don’t have to give themselves extra work this month.
