Poll: Who had the best deadline in the Al East?

The trade theadline has come and gone. While the exhibition season was slowly working this year, when everything was said and done, a few dozen transactions were done in a flurry of movement during the last few days before the deadline arrived. The full impact of these transactions will not be known for years, but that does not mean that we cannot analyze the deals and decide whose pulls now looks the best. From last week, MLBTR started running a series of polls in which it was asked which club had the best deadline in every division. Until now, the Phillies, Reds, Padres, Mariners and Twins have each come to their respective departments. Today we will end the series with the Al East. Here is a look at each of the five clubs, listed from best to worst record in 2025:

Toronto Blue Jays

The Blue Jays reinforced their bullpen, their attack and their depth in depth for the trade deadline, but their biggest step was a high-risk, High-Rings Deal to upgrade the top of their rotation. Seranthony Domínguez And Louis Varland Give manager John Schneider two hard-throwing late-inning options, and although Domínguez is a rent, Varland is under team control until 2030. Ty France Has played almost every day since he passed the twins next to Varland, alternating between first base and DH. It is a few years ago that he was much more than a competition average bat, but he has been well hit with Toronto so far. Former Padres Prospect Brandon Valenzuela Offers catching depth at Triple-A.

The crown jewel of the Deadline of General Director Ross Atkins was 2020 already Cy Young winner Shane BieberHe is approaching his return of the Tommy John operation that kept him outside since last April. The Blue Jays will hope that he can be the bait they miss the entire season. In a best-case scenario, the Jays took over the pitcher who will start one of their first Playoff series while trying to break out from a long postseas losing streak. In a worst-case scenario they gave a promising pitching forecast (Khal Stephen) In exchange for a man who can’t pitch like he did before his injury. Bieber has a player option of $ 16 mm for 2026 with a buy -out of $ 4 mm.

In exchange for Bieber, Domínguez, Varland, France and Valenzuela, Toronto separated with young large Leagueers Roden in the field And Will wagneras well as Pitching -Proers Stephen, Kendry RojasAnd Juaron Watts-Brown. That is not a small price to pay, but the Blue Jays hope that they have added enough to help them protect their first East title in a decade.

Boston Red Sox

The Red Sox made the greatest trade of the season in June and sent All-Star Slugger Rafael Devers (and the nine years left on his contract) to the giants in exchange for Kyle HarrisonJordan HicksJames Tibbs IIIAnd Jose Bello. Yet they were quite quiet for the trade theadline. Allegedly they showed interest in a wide range of players, including Jhoan DuranEugenio SuárezYandy DíazNathaniel LoweJosh BellAnd Dalton Hurryas well as front-line starters Dylan stopsMitch KellerZac GallenMerrill KellySandy Alcantaraand see you on Deadline Day, Joe Ryan. However, all they finally added was a back-end starter, Dustin Mayand a left -handed long reliever, Steven Matz. They have not picked up bats. May has an ERA of 4.93 and 4.31 Siera in 20 games (19 Starts) this year, including a bad first outing with Boston last week. Matz threw well in his first season as a full -time reliever, which placed a 3.22 ERA and 3.53 Siera in 58 2/3 frames. He must allow another point in three trips with the SOX. Both will be free agents at the end of the year.

Chief Baseball Officer Craig BreslowThe apparent failure to add a more talented starting pitcher, the kind that Boston would be confident to start in a play -off series, looked all the worse after the news broke that broke Tanner Houck Would undergo Tommy John’s operation and miss the rest of the season. That said, the Red Sox have continued to play well since the deadline. They now hold the second wildcard place and have the highest run differential in the American League. Although they have not added much to help them make a play -off push, the downside they didn’t have to give up much either. For example, they held on Years Duran And Wilyer AbbreuTwo players who allegedly sought the twins in exchange for Ryan – and two players who have been contributors for the Red Sox throughout the year.

New York Yankees

The Yankees were one of the busiest buyers of the competition at the deadline and added three remarkable bull pen and various complementary pieces for the Line -up. All-Star Closers David Bednar And Camilo Doval Arrived in New York, next to colleague Righty Jake BirdTo become a member of a bull pen that could already be seen Devin Williams And Luke Weaver. All three have had their struggles since they became members of the team (such as Williams), but at best these Yankees bullpen still have the potential to be the best in the American League. Bednar enjoys another dominant season after he had closed his poor 2024 behind him, and Doval was also reflected from a disappointing campaign from 2024 to post strong numbers in 2025. Bird was chosen for Triple-A after just three performances for his new club, but he is an experienced Big League-Reliever with intriguing things. In the worst case, he is a sustainable depth piece with leftover options, and in the best case he is much more. All three Bullpen supplements are under team control after this season: Bednar for another year, Doval for two and Bird for three.

Jazz Chishholm Jr. Can only play one position at the same time, and when that position again became second, the Yankees needed a real solution in third place. Ryan McMahon Is that solution, and utilities men José Caballero And Amed Rosario (When healthy) can help him with a left -handed pitcher on the hill. GM Brian Cashman also brought Righty-Batting outfielder Austin Slater On board to become a member of Caballero and Rosario when balancing a Lefty-heavy line-up. Unfortunately for the bombers, Rosario and Slater have already hit the IL. Rosario will soon be back from a small shoulder rejecting, but Slater will be out of the regular season with a hamstring tribe. Yet the Yankees are not exactly missing Oswald Perazawhich they turned to the angels; The former top perspective has been struggling poorly in the last three years and desperately needed a change of environment.

Tampa Bay Rays

The Rays started July with a top 10 record in MLB and the only possession of the first already Wild Card place. They were under .500 cases on Deadline Day. It is of course difficult to say whether their deadline plans has changed. As usual, the rays did a little and buy a little. They have assigned two important members of their start rotation, Taj Bradley And Zack Littelland two members of their regular starting line -up, utility man caballero and catcher Danny Jansen. Yet they also added a rental starter, Adrian Houser; Two new catchers, Nick Fortes And Hunter Feduccia; and two relievers, Griffin Jax And Bryan Baker. Jax and Houser were two of the more popular players on the market, houser because of his cheap contract and surprisingly dominant figures with the White Sox and Jax because he is one of the best relievers of the game for a few more years under team control.

Also remarkable are the players who chose not to act. They would be open to trade a few days before the deadline Yandy Díaz And Brandon LoweBut they eventually held on to both veterans. The rays also kept closer Pete Fairbanks. A week before the deadline, a report suggested that they “prefer to prove” to retain fair banks, but it is not as if he did not argue. Lowe, Díaz and Fairbanks are three of the expensive players of the tight fist rays. Fairbanks and Lowe have only one year of team control over after 2025, while Díaz is signed with a club option before 2027. The decision of the team to have them in the area seems to suggest that they hope to camp this year, even after saying goodbye to Bradley, Littell, Caballero and Jansen.

Baltimore Orioles

They were not as active as the twins, but the Orioles benefited from a seller’s market to get the most out of their disappointing situation. They exchanged 2025 All-Star Ryan O’HearnThe surprisingly productive Ramon LaureanoLong-appointed midfielder Cedric MullinsUtility Infielder Ramon UriasExperienced starter Charlie Mortonand relievers Domínguez, Baker, Andrew KittredgeAnd Gregory Soto. In exchange, they brought back Boston BatemanBrandon ButterworthCobb HightowerVictor FigueroaTyson -NeighborsAnd Tanner Smith (O’Hearn/Laureno); Raimon GomezAnthony Nunez And Chandler Marsh (Mullins); Twine Palmer (Urria); Michah Ashman (Morton); Juaron Watts-Brown (Domínguez); Wilfri van Cruz (Kittredge); Wellington Aracena And Cameron Foster (Soto); and a competition balance of 2025 (round a) design selection, no. 37 General (Baker).

According to MLB -PijplineBateman slots in as their no. 9 prospect, while Watts-Brown Slots in No. 13, De la Cruz at no. 24, Hightower at No. 26 and Aracena at no. 29. Only time will tell how well these transactions work for the Orioles, but it is hard to deny that they have almost put the right call in their sensed, and they have been getting rid of them. In the meantime, they do not separate with pieces that could contribute considerably in 2026 and then. Fans can hope that GM Mike Elias will use the money he has saved and prospect that he has added to the deadline to improve O’s Roster during the low season and bringing winning baseball back to Baltimore next year.

By entering the season, many thought that it would already be the most talented and competitive division in the competition. It would still very well produce three Playoff teams and four clubs above .500, but not much would have guessed the division, would shake that way with the Blue Jays that led in the deadline and the orioles that sell parts. There are still seven weeks for the Al East to continue to surprise us, and the movements that each team made on the deadline can play a major role in that. So, which of these five do you think had the best deadline? Determine under the poll below:
