Tom Aspinall is the undisputed champion.
But is he the best heavyweight in the promotion? We may not have a definitive answer until Aspinall comes through struggling powerhouse Jailton Almeida. The Brazilian knezer is on average nearly seven Takedowns per fight and has four bonuses after the fight in the last three years.
That said, Aspinall still has to be removed in UFC.
‘We didn’t see it [Aspinall] Fighting his back, something that I am really curious to see how he is doing, “Almeida said Ariel Helwani. “I don’t think he was once put under as much pressure as we should see that someone is being put under pressure to really understand who they are. I think there are still some things to check with Aspinall. He is a fantastic hunter, but I think there are still things we have to see.”
Aspinall (15-3) has been booked to defend his 265-pound band against double title challenge Ciryl Gane as part of the upcoming UFC 321 Pay-per-View (PPV) card later this year in Abu Dhabi. That is the same event with Almeida (22-3) that fights Alexander Volkov for what could be the next crack in the heavyweight Kroon.
‘I am more explosive than anyone else [Aspinall] has confronted, especially on the wrestling side of things-I think it would probably develop as a wrestling fight, “the number 5-ranked Almeida continued. “He is one [Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu] Black calls, but there are levels to be a black belt. I think I will be able to take it in deep waters as soon as we get on the grab side of things. ‘
