In the opening round of the Hockey East playoff, #8 seed BU will host #9 seed Providence at Walter Brown Arena. Puck drop is at 6:00 PM for the game, which will be streamed live on ESPN+.
A year removed from winning the 2025 conference championship, it has been a challenging season for the Terriers, who bring a 10-20-3 record into the game. Last weekend they defeated Providence 3-1 and were eliminated by BC 4-0.
In November, BU defeated the Friars 4-1 and then tied them 2-2 for a shootout victory.
In the win against PC, Maeve Kelly scored the game winner on a power play in the third period and also contributed an assist, earning Hockey East Defender of the Week honors. Lexie Bertelsen And Luisa Welckeback from the Olympics, also scored for BU. Goalkeeper Michelle Pasiechnyk came out big with 41 saves.
“At the end of the day we have good goaltending, and if we make it very difficult for ourselves to eliminate and play the right way, we have enough skill to score,” said coach Tara Watchorn told the Boston Hockey Blog after the BC loss. “I have no doubt about that.”
