Player profile – Carter Savoie
| Carter Savoie |
-Carter Savoie is a 23-year-old, 5’10 ‘, 192 pound, left shot forward from ST, Albert, Alberta. He was the 4th round Draft Pick (#100 General) of the Edmonton Oilers in the NHL version of 2020. He became professional after his university team, the University of Denver, won the NCAA National Championship in 2022. In the semi-final, Savoie scored the game winner, 14:32 in overtime, to beat a loaded University of Michigan team 3-2 to continue to the final. Denver defeated Minnesota State 5-1 in the final to record his ninth national title. Carter was appointed as the All-Tournament team.
Describing Savoie as a pure scorer would be an understatement. As a 17-year-old, playing Junior A Hockey in the AJHL (Alberta Junior Hockey League), he scored 53 goals in 54 matches together with 46 assists for a total of 99 points.
Here is a reconnaissance report from Savoie’s concept year. “Savoie reads defenders like a few other players in the concept. He is sharply aware of opposite sticks and attracts them actively. Savoie is deceptive: he looks out of his targeted game and keeps the same handle on his stick, whether he is going, buns or shoots. Savoie fires with strength, and for his advantage.”
From the moment he became Pro in 2022, until the end of the 2023-24 season, Carter was at the Bakersfield Condors (AHL). He played in 109 games and scored 33 points (18g, 15a). Last season, after a short period in Finland, he signed an AHL deal with the Ontario Reign, but was assigned to Greenville throughout the season and was never called. He had 47 points (24 g, 23a) in 54 games with the swamp rabbits.
How did Savoie end up in all, knowing that many Echl teams were recruiting him? He was looking for an opportunity that would bring him back to the AHL. Coach Martinson and De Allen Affiliate worked together to show him how that would be possible. He will score a lot of points in the attacking system of Martinson, and the affiliated company will call him at some point. There is no doubt that Savoie would not be in all if it was not for the recruitment effort of the affiliate. In the perfect world, boys like Savoie go to the AHL and are signed. All gets a different player back and it will result in more quality players who are available for the play -offs. This concept works best if the player goes to Allen’s Affiliate. But don’t forget that these players, such as Savoie, are free agents in the AHL, so every AHL team can ask for it.
Savoie will be one of all players who attend the Affiliates Prospect Tournament.
What did Steve Martinson say about Savoie?
“With the boys I will play with Savoie, I think he will lead the competition in average goals per match. I expect that he will get a chance with our affiliated company, but we get a good player back when he goes up.”
“Savoie scored 10 goals in the AHL and did not play top-six, minutes. That is very difficult to do in that competition. He is a target scorer, and with all the good puck wearers we will have, he will be a top scorer in our competition.”
“The only thing I ask of these players that I expect to lose from the AHL is that they will come back and help us in the play -offs if our affiliated company does not make the play -offs or lose in the play -offs early. This is an important conversation for players like Savoie that I know they can play in the AHL.”

Jackson Decker

| Jackson Decker |
-Jackson Decker is a 26-year-old. 5’10 ‘, 180 pound left-shot defender of Algonquin, IL, who has just terminated his five-year collegial career at Canisius College. He is the leader of Canisius of all time in played games (159). In his collegial career, Decker achieved 70 points (15 g, 55a).
Jackson played last season as a graduate student (company) and is in his conference (AHA) All-Academic team.
In 2023, Canisius won its conference championship to earn an automatic offer for the NCAA Division I tournament. They had to beat the army, Niagara and the Holy Cross on their way to the championship. Decker was one of the six players selected for the All-Tournament team.
What did Martinson have to say about Decker?
“Decker is proud to get the puck to the attackers and then jump into the play.”
“I think he should fit very well with the style that we like to play.”
“When I spoke about Decker, he told me that he was very proud of being one of the best batters in his team. At first sight, I wouldn’t have known that. If a player yields something like that, you know it is legitimate.”
– Unfortunately I couldn’t find Decker -Videos. Here the press release on Decker is published by De Allen Americans: https://allenamericans.com/news/2025/08/americans-sign-talented-young-blueliner
Other comments
– No more hedges of me when the announcement of the affiliation will take place. I will say unambiguously that it will take place sometime next week. The good news is that the delay did not prevent coach Martinson to move forward at full speed, knowing that it will happen.
– Martinson has already had to exchange or release three players from last season. These are players who have been signed, but not yet announced. In the future, when Martinson signs a player, he must release a player.
– Sometimes players are signed by an AHL team, but they don’t get a chance. They are held because they are a really good player for the Echl branch. The player would like to be traded on another AHL team that gives them a chance. Sometimes you end up with an unfortunate player because they didn’t get a chance, and they will continue instead of signing again.
– The Echl announced on Wednesday that a new franchise has been awarded that will play in Augusta, Georgia, starting in the 2027-28 season. The same primary owners of the Tahoe Knight Monsters (Tim Tebow & David Hodges) will have the Augusta Franchise. Zawyer Sports will consult with Tebow and Hodges, just like in Tahoe. – The dressing room of Allen Americans undergoes a full renovation for the first time since 2009. One of the most iconic pieces of Allen Americans Memorabilia ever is for auction. That is the logo in the carpet in the middle of the dressing room. Four championships, champagne, beer and every player in the history of all have adorned that logo. And if you are an old reader of the blog, there might be some crow chili spilled on that logo (no spot). The dimensions are 12’9 “x 12’9”, and it is in surprisingly good shape for its age, plus it has a lot of character. – There are also a few sweaters for an auction, and the minimum bid is only $ 100. Chance to pick up a sweater at a good price. https://fans.winwithdash.com/team/allenamericans/event/689B5B3DE373E00083C6A4C
