You will have noticed that everything will be fine Edinburgh will have 10 games in the next 10 weeks. It can also only be 4 if the proverbial touches the fan.
Hopefully it will be closer to 10, although looking at Boan Venter and Luan de Bruin last week against Pau against Pau with their legs in brackets and support themselves with crutches, especially with so many games to play.
Somehow the season is its way to a conclusion and every week we will think about the results until they are all arranged.
It may therefore be early to decide on a player of the season, but it is not too early to view the candidates, while you take into account that there is time to change this dramatically. Note that I don’t say Caullie -lug, what a separate thing should be. See this message for my thoughts about that –

There are, I think, a few names that have to go in the hat for player of the season.
Starting in the front, there is the aforementioned Boan Venter, Grant Gilchrist, Magnus Bradbury and possibly Connor Boyle, although I suspect that he might just be a shoe for the young player of the season
There are several candidates in the back. Ben Vellacott, Blair Kinghorn and our two Argentinian stars Emiliano Boffelli and Ramiro Moyano.
BOAN Wait. With Pierre Schoeman now located in the Scotland team that Boan stepped on the plate. He has played 17 of the 19 games so far and is the teams of the teams of the teams in the attacker. Including the only hat trick ever of a plug in the URC in all its sizes. He is also an excellent scrummager.
Opportunity
Grant Gilchrist. Gilco played in 11 of the 19 matches of Edinburgh and has a distinction on the back of his new contract from the side of a number of times that will certainly see him finish his rugby career at Edinbjurgh. He is at the top of the Edinburgh Tackle Chart in all competitions and is the best tackler in the Challenge Cup. It is our most reliable line option. He probably deserves more the Caullie -Lug (if it was awarded according to the original concept), but has had a good season, both for club and country.
UNLIKELY
Magnus Bradbury. Maggie is demonstrable and somewhat ironically his threatening departure, with his best season ever for Edinburgh. As he set up in a Scotland setup, he managed 13 games for the club. He is our top carrier and has made 878 meters in the course of these games. Only Henry Immelman has walked more with the ball in hand. He is Joint Second Top Tackler. I even saw him pass the ball, which is not his usual game.
Opportunity
Ben Vellacott. The 0.5 men as his teammates call him, has been a revelation. His all the action style is great to look at and his unpredictability at the basis of a ruck has led him to be one of the most important attack weapons, whether it is alone or by bringing someone else into the play. If the price were only awarded for excitement, it would be at the top.
Close but no cigar
Blair Kinghorn. The man who has divided a rugbynation. I’m firmly in the Blair 10 project camp. Edinburgh wins more when he plays and his style agrees well with the aforementioned Vellacott. He can choose a sharp pass or offload and can also make his own break and he is deceptively fast. The only statistics for which he is not in the top 10 is tackling. He has run more meters with ball in his hand than Boffelli and Moyano. I would like to see him win, not only because he would earn it, but it would also mess with the heads of the no -sayers.
Maybes Aye
Ramiro Moyano. The Argentinian is the top scorer of Edinburgh this season and just about everything he scored was from the stand -up and screaming. He has a bad step and a fantastic pace. He is also the best scorer in the Challenge Cup so far. His impact was just as welcome as it was unexpected for this observer. Defensively not the best (57% tackle success) but I will forgive him for that, because he is great to watch.
Get closer
Emiliano Boffelli. What can I say? Toppunt scorer and second top scorer. Just like his countryman, he is great to look at and in addition to the excitement he brings, he is also deadly of the tee. He is probably the best player I have seen in an Edinburgh shirt.
Be
As mentioned, there are still 10 games that can still be played and those games are fairly clear the most important of the season. So if, say, Connor Boyle or Mark Bennett, who are probably already floating at the entrance of the Poty barn, continue in this mind, they can be very well eligible.
If it all goes Pete tongue, I would expect one of the players I mentioned earlier will take the prize.
The Caullie -Lug must go to the Gilchrist subsidy, a man from one club or WP Nel who has given to Edinburgh for a decade of loyalty and is my example when he tries to combat someone who blends about mercenaries.
