Newcastle’s search for at least one striker is rumbling, with a breakthrough necessary soon if we land a number of new signing sessions before the new season.

Benjamin Sesko seems to be our leading target to replace Alexander Isak, was he allowed to leave, with Nicolas Jackson and Ollie Watkins, also linked today.

But another name that is tipped to arrive in Callum Wilson’s place for weeks is Brentford’s Yoane Wissa.

Earlier today, Sky Sports revealed that Newcastle was told to increase or walk away their offer ‘considerably’, where the bees were not interested in our £ 25 million and £ 35 million proposals so far.

Wissas thought he is very enthusiastic about the move – reports say that he wants ‘only Newcastle’ – and BBC Sport have issued a Saturday night update on the deal.

The main writer Sami Mokbel reveals that the 28-year-old was involved in ‘Fiery Talks’ with Brentford director of Football Phil Giles, with the feeling that the club praises him from a movement.

BBC Sport even claims that Wissa ‘has threatened not to play for the club again’ if they do not let him move to Newcastle, the feeling that Brentford returns with an agreement to let him go when a suitable offer arrives.

It has also been reported that Giles and recruitment assistant Andy Howe found further conversations in the last 24 hours, although the two clubs do not yet have to reach an agreement.

So it seems that all parties are in graves. Wissa is desperate to sign, Brentford is determined to demand a large fee and Newcastle seems reluctant to pay much more than £ 35 million for a player who will soon be 29.
