  • Google has exchanged the lower speaker and microphone positions on the Pixel 10 Pro XL compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL.
  • That is why right -handed users can accidentally cover the microphone while recording videos in landscape mode.
  • Rotating the phone can help, but it can feel uncomfortable.

If you have recently bought a Pixel 10 Pro XL and experience audio problems in landscape videos, you are not the only one. Google changed the lower speaker and microphone positions on the new flagship compared to the Pixel 9 Pro XL. So the main speaker is now on the right side of the USB-C port, making it less likely that you accidentally cover it while gaming, watching videos or keeping the phone in landscape mode.

As noted by Artem RussakovskiiThis switch has an unintended side effect. The microphone is now in the former speaker spot on the left, which means that right -handed users cover it earlier with their palm while they normally keep the phone in landscape mode. This can lead to muted or unequal audio when recording videos, such as for Artem.

Of course the easy solution to rotate the phone 180 degrees is so that your right hand does not cover the microphone. However, it is not the most convenient solution and can feel uncomfortable if you are right -handed.

So although this is not a big problem, it is just something right-handed Pixel 10 Pro XL users should keep in mind when photographing videos.
