The Detroit Pistons sign Free Agent Vooruit Javonte Green for a one -year -old deal, sources told ESPNs Shams Charania On Monday. The 32-year-old starts his seventh NBA season.
Javonte Green Set to enter the seventh NBA season
Green was released in 263 career NBA regular seasonal competitions (74 starts) on parts of six seasons, an average of 5.3 points and 3.1 boards per match while he shot 50.9% and 33.8% of deep.
He left Radford University in 2019 and drew a deal with the Boston Celtics. The 6-foot-4 wing played almost two seasons with the Celtics before being traded to the Chicago Bulls in March 2021.
In 68 games (19 starts) divided between the New Orleans Pelicans and Cleveland Cavaliers last season, Green on average 5.1 points and 3.2 rebounds while he shot 42.9% from the field and 32.6% from 3-point territory.
While with the Pelicans on November 22 in a 112-108 house loss for the Golden State Warriors, he registered a season-high 15 points at 6-of-9 (66.7%) shoot from the floor and a few free throws.
Despite his consistent game as a reserve, New Orleans abandoned on February 20. On February 20, however, he signed three days later with the Cavaliers. The resident of Virginia thought Cleveland was the perfect landing site for him.
“I just had the feeling that the best suits me here,” Green said reporters after the 129-123 home win of the CAVS on February 23. “I am a very team -oriented player and I think this team has that. I think it could be an easy fit for me.”

According to Basketball referenceGreen now participates in a Detroit Wing rotation that includes Ausar Thompson, Jaden Ivey, Duncan Robinson, Caris and Ronald Holland II.
The pistons have currently signed 13 players for standard contracts. This means that even if the Green deal is not fully guaranteed, he should be able to earn a place on the 15-man regular season schedule.
Detroit ended with the worst record in the NBA the previous two seasons for last season, but the pistons were able to redeem themselves in 2024-25 with a core of Cunnigham, Jalen, Ivey and Thompson.
The pistons took care of their first winning season since 2016 and achieved their first Playoff location since 2019.
While the pistons should take several steps this season to upgrade their selection, recent plans have been on hold because of the ongoing gambling research by Malik Beasley.
The probe quickly stopped contract interviews between him and the pistons.
Detroit also lost Dennis Schroder and Tim Hardaway Jr. In Free Agency, but the team was able to sign Caris and Land Duncan Robinson of the Miami Heat via a drawing and trade.
