While Sweden is preparing to welcome the very first WTT Grand Smash in Europe, the Swedish Table Tennis Association (SBTF) has yielded a record attack to stimulate the participation of girls and women in sport.
For the third year in a row, the beloved Ping Pong Power Girls’ Festival returned to the iconic Halmstad Arena, famous the stage of the 2018 World Team Table Tennis Championships. This year’s edition, held from 8-12 August 2025, brought 167 girls and women from all over Sweden together-a new presence record-in a lively celebration of table tennis, friendship and pleasure.
From the youngest player in just seven years old to the most experienced at the age of 78, the festival proved that table tennis really has no age limits. During four days, participants of all skill levels enjoyed a dynamic mix of training, friendly competition and social activities spread over three buzzing halls, with 80 tables in constant action.
The festival is part of the SBTFs Ping Pong Power initiative, in particular the The girl rocket Program, which focuses on increasing opportunities for women and girls in table tennis. Under the leadership of SBTF development strategist Maria Christoforaki, the event contained an excellent coaching team with a strong female representation and ITF president Petra Sörling and Ettu Deputy Secretary -General Galia Dvorak welcomed to see the action.
