Only 10 minutes after a Delta aircraft landed on San Francisco International Airport, law enforcement and federal agents arrived and a pilot arrested, the authorities say.
Passengers Agape left the arrest on Saturday.
The officers and agents “pushed their way up through the aisle” and in the cockpit, where they fascinated the co-pilot before they led him away, one passenger told the San Francisco Chronicle.
Rustom Bhagwagar, a 34-year-old resident of Florida, was arrested on suspicion of sexual crimes against a minor.
Contra Costa County Sheriff’s delegates and Department of Homeland Security Agents arrested Bhagwagar around 9.35 pm Saturday after the Delta Air Lines flight from Minneapolis landed on SFO, according to a press release from a Sheriff.
Authorities said that Bhagwagar was arrested and booked in the Martinez detention facility on five counts of oral copulation with a child under 10 years old. His bail was set at $ 5 million.
The Bhagwagar investigation started months ago after the authorities received reports that he reportedly committed a sexual crime against a child, according to the release. Contrra Costa representatives discovered that Bhagwagar was a pilot and – with the help of Homeland Security, who did not participate in the study – arrested him as soon as the flight was closed.
A spokesperson for Delta Air Lines said in a statement to the time that it would collaborate with the authorities and has “zero tolerance” for the alleged illegal behavior.
Delegates said the investigation continued. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact the Sheriff’s Investigations Division on (925) 313-2600 or on (866) 846-3592 for anonymous tips.
