Hundreds of demonstrators who spent the fourth July in the center of Los Angeles to gather against the immigration raids that greeted the region and the increase in federal financing approved this week to keep them going. Many on the street said they brought the barbecues and fireworks this year. They marched through Olvera Street and outside the federal building, which houses the immigration court, waving signs. Several police officers monitored the protest, but kept distance during the meeting, which lasted a few hours. “No more profession! No more deportation!” The protesters sang. In the federal building, military personnel stood in a shoulder to shoulder and guard the building with shields and weapons.
