Manchester United Women have a new winner of the Player of the Month award.
So far it has been dominated by new signing Jess Park, who has won the award three times this season.
This run has now been ended by American goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce.
United career
The goalkeeper came to United from Seattle Reign FC in 2023.
She initially played as Mary Earps’ backup, but when Earps left in the summer of 2024, the American was asked to replace the big figure at the club.
Tullis-Joyce has done what was asked of her, and in reality, much more. She has developed into one of the best goalkeepers in the league, displaying composure and incredible athleticism.
Her importance to the team was demonstrated in the fall when she missed a number of games due to injury and the defense completely lost the rigidity she has become famous for.
Player of the month January
The club website announced yesterday: “Congratulations to Manchester United goalkeeper Phallon Tullis-Joyce, who is our Women’s Player of the Month for January.”
She kept three clean sheets in four games and was simply outstanding for United in the 0-0 draw against Arsenal in the league to start the new year. Tullis-Joyce received 33% of the votes, but Elisabeth Terland was just behind with 31%.
The Norwegian scored crucial goals against Arsenal in the League Cup semi-final and against Aston Villa in the Women’s Super League.
Tullis-Joyce has won the award twice before, in December 2024 and April 2025.
Last season she was also named Player of the Year for the Women.
The American will feature for United later this afternoon when they welcome fierce rivals Liverpool to the Progress with Unity Stadium.
