Atlantic City – Make no mistake, Jesus Pinedo does not sound intimidated at all by the undefeated MOVLID Khaybulaev prior to the PFL World Tournament -Fedweight Final of this Friday.
Peru’s Pinedo (25-6-1) explained during the PFL Atlantic City Media Day session on Wednesday that “I came for the money, the belt and to take his zero.”
The 29-year-old, just like Khaybulaev, has a PFL Tournament earlier. Yet the Dagestani remains unbeaten, considered one of the best featherweights in the world. “Movlid has never fought against anyone like me, and my game plan is to tear his head off,” Pinedo went against. “That will be his biggest problem at night.”
With people like Aaron Pico and Patricio Pitbull now in the UFC, the 145LB division of the PFL is wide open. The Champions Series Belt seems to be for the taking. However, Jesus Pinedo does not run for itself.
“At the moment I am not really focused on other fights. My most important focus is on Mlvlid this night. And then I will just see what PFL puts on my plate, and from there we will find out the next opponent. But Movlid is now my number one task.”
Beating a colleague -for example PFL Global Season Champ is a little extra motivation, please note. Pinedo admitted so much and added: “I take every fight extremely seriously, and nothing changes here. But there is an extra sense of motivation considering the type of hunter and athlete that is MOVLID. So it helped me to prepare myself physically and mentally for this fight.”
