Former SBS head of Network Programming announces a consultancy that will work with writers and producers at the earliest stages of development.
Former SBS head of network programming Peter Andrews has announced a boutique content consultancy, Pilot Season.
Andrews has more than two decades of programming leadership, working with broadcasters, streamers, distributors and global producers on everything from content strategy and acquisitions to co-production development and platform positioning.
“The television and streaming landscape is evolving at a pace I’ve never seen,” says Andrews. “That is not a threat, but an opportunity. And I want to help the right partners seize it.”
Pilot Season is built to work where it’s needed most: in the earliest stages of the development cycle, when a writer or producer has a truly great idea but doesn’t yet know which door to knock on.
Andrews was chief buyer at SBS and before that Network 10, where every international acquisition came across his desk, including Australia only And The Handmaid’s Taleboth hits for SBS.
“That knowledge shouldn’t live behind closed doors in a private club that most working creatives never get access to,” he says.
“Pilot Season is my answer to that. It’s a community – a community that embraces difference, that believes partnerships are the number one priority in this industry for survival, and that wants to empower storytellers to find their audiences on any screen, device, or platform.”
This week, Andrews will be at London Screenings, one of the most important annual events on the global content calendar.
