This is another teaser ad from Perodua about the new model that will be launched, with an indication that the launch will take place in less than a day. As before, the crossover codenamed D66B would use the name Traz, which is referenced in a shadow image showing the side.
It has the same shape as its twin model, the Toyota Yaris Cross, which has been launched in Indonesia and Thailand since 2023, although it will have slightly different details typical of Perodua.
In Indonesia, the Yaris Cross uses a 2NR-VE 1.5 liter NA four-cylinder petrol engine that generates 106 PS and 138 Nm, mated to the choice of a five-speed manual or a CVT. In Thailand, there is an option for a hybrid drive system that is also offered for the affected model, with output of 91 hp/121 Nm from the 2NR-VEX 1.5 liter NA four-cylinder, combined with an 80 hp/141 Nm electric motor delivering a combined power of 111 hp.
It is expected that there will be many similarities between Traz and Yaris Cross, for example the five-star ASEAN NCAP rating received in August this year. It is positioned above the Ativa, which means the price will also be more expensive than the Ativa’s starting price of RM62,500.
