Perodua Nexis/Traz teased again – D66B crossover based on Toyota Yaris Cross debuts next week? – paultan.org

After an earlier one last week, Perodua has released another teaser for its upcoming model, likely its B-segment crossover codenamed D66B, which will be called Nexis or Traz. The latest teaser image shows more of the Nexis/Traz from a different angle, although its shape has been seen elsewhere courtesy of the Toyota Yaris Cross, which launched in Indonesia and Thailand in 2023.

Compared to the Yaris Cross, the Perodua version of the B-segment crossover seems to carry some detail changes. An earlier teaser image revealed that that national brand’s version will have a front grille with L-shaped patterns instead of the U-shaped pattern design on the Yaris Cross.

Here we get another look at the front of the vehicle, clearing up the image somewhat, and this reveals inserts on the front bumper corners that differ from those of the Yaris Cross, namely a design that is more elaborate than the triangular parts of the equivalent Toyota. On the Yaris Cross, the second, smaller unit above the lamp is a parking sensor.

The powertrain for the Perodua Nexis/Traz is yet to be confirmed, although for reference the Yaris Cross in Indonesia is a 2NR-VE 1.5-litre naturally aspirated four-cylinder petrol engine that produces 106 PS and 138 Nm, paired with a five-speed manual transmission or CVT. Thailand, meanwhile, gets a hybrid powertrain that combines a 2NR-VEX 1.5 liter NA four-cylinder 91 hp/121 Nm with an 80 hp/141 Nm e-motor for a combined power of 111 hp.

Much is shared between the upcoming Perodua B-SUV and the Toyota Yaris Cross, with the latter having achieved a five-star ASEAN NCAP rating in August this year. The names Nexis and Traz were registered as trademarks by the Malaysian car manufacturer with the Intellectual Property Corporation of Malaysia (MyIPO) more than three years ago.

Five more days, according to Perodua’s Instagram post, which should mean that the debut of the Nexis/Traz is scheduled for next week. The B-segment crossover codenamed D66B is positioned above the Ativa, which starts at RM62,500 OTR without insurance and goes up to RM73,100 or RM73,400 for the two-tone paint option of the AV variant. How much do you think this will cost?
