‘Perfect day’ in which Man City closes the gap with leaders Arsenal
“Today it was a great match,” Cherki told Sky Sports after the whistle. “We don’t want to concede any goals and we didn’t do that today. Perfect day.”
The France international played a key role in the victory, providing two assists from six chances created, while also completing the most dribbles (5) in the match.
On his rabona assist for Foden, he said: “Yes, I heard it [the fan reaction]just for the fans, because I want to give the pleasure to others. I want to play for Phil, for Omar [Marmoush] duck for Erling [Haaland].”
Asked if he was given permission to play with freedom, Cherki replied: “Yes of course, it’s my quality that I always want to try when I have the ball. Today it was good because it was a good pass for Phil.”
City are now just one win away from potentially overtaking Arsenal at the top of the Premier League after the Gunners suffered a late defeat at Aston Villa earlier in the day.
“We know that. We play the game one by one. We want to work on wins and games.”
