The Penguins have made some important moves after Monday night’s collapse in Toronto.
GOAL Tristan Jarry and forward Justin Brazeau And Noel Acciari were placed on IR. Brazeau and Acciari have upper body injuries. Jarry’s condition has not been disclosed.
Due to the IR designation, they must remain on the shelf for a minimum of seven days from the date of their respective injuries.
The Pens also sent a defenseman and former first-round pick Owen Pickering back to the Baby Pens after four increasingly rocky outings.
A few 30-year-old vets were called from the Baby Cages, Danton Heinen And Ryan Gravenand…drumroll please…hot goalkeeper ahead Sergei Murashov.
It’s safe to say all three of them tore things up in Wilkes. Heinen tied for the AHL lead in scoring with 14 points in 10 games (5+9). Graves outscored Baby Pens defensemen with seven points (1+6) and a plus-9.
As for Murashov, the 21-year-old wunderkind was named AHL Goalkeeper of the Month for October on the strength of a 1.73 goals against average and an excellent save percentage of .931, not to mention his 5-2 record.
I’m especially curious to see Murashov in action.
In a strange way, so does Graves. He was once a fairly competent NHL defenseman. I keep wanting to believe that player is buried there somewhere under the rubble of the past two seasons.
No word yet on keeping Kid Defenseman Harrison Brunicke above his nine-game contract threshold.
