On the way to the 2025-26 season, the New Orleans-Pelikans have a fairly deep rotation with a good security game, elite deposit and a solid big man rotation. Front offices, however, always try to find different movements and transactions that they can do to improve their selection.
For the Pelicans, the obvious way is to improve their selection by acting Big Man Yves Missi. Despite the earning of All-smokie Team Honors last season, a combination of bad performances in the Summer League and Joe Dumars’ has made a big man in the lottery look like Missi could be on his way.
Now I know that this is the 3rd or 4th article that I wrote about New Orleans Trading Missi, but promise that I am not a hater. I think that moving him is useful for both the development of Derik Queen and the Playoff of the Pelicans hopes this season.
The newest trade proposal I have come up with sees Missi being traded on the Los Angeles Lakers for Dalton servant, who was set up for four places for him in the NBA design of 2024.
It is far too logical for both parties
During the entire career of Luka Doncic we saw him flourish when he had an edge lobe threat center to let the Pick and Roll run. If the Lakers would acquire Missi, they would bring Doncic into a perfect situation. Because Missi also has a Rookie scale contract, he would be a cheap long-term option that could grow alongside Doncic.
For New Orleans, servant is a better fit in the long term. During his Rookie season, he shot 37.6% of three, while on average 9.1 points per match. Because the pelicans are a bottom-five team that shoots the three last season, he would come in immediately and give it a big boost.
Although his power as a knockdown shooter is extremely valuable, we have also seen that he is much more than just a sniper. During the last 2 years of his collegial career we saw that KNCTH is a bona fide scorer, and when he gets hot, there is virtually nothing you can do to stop him.
This is something that translated into the NBA, and we saw it flashing of it during his Rookie year. From November 13 to 29th, servant had an average of 18.9 points per match while he shot 52.2% from outside the arch at almost 8 attempts per match.
This run included several 20-plus scoring outings and a 37-point explosion against the Utah Jazz, where he drilled 9 triples. However, he had cooled when December came and we saw his confidence taking a hit after he was part of a failed trade in which he went to the Charlotte Hornets for Mark Williams.
Since then, many fans, including myself, have the feeling that the trade of the Lakers servant is inevitable, because the relationship between him and the organization has certainly taken a hit after the failed trade.
If New Orleans can benefit from this bad relationship and the need of the Lakers to a long -term answer to the five by trading Missi there, they have to do this. The ability of servant as a scorer and shooter would make him the perfect sixth man for this pelican core, both for the present and the future.
