Manila, Philippines – Barangay Ginebra -Coach Tim Cone was the first to cried his gin kings because he faltered late in game 5 of the PBA Philippine Cup semi -finals.

“Sayang (too bad), I thought we had the chance to win tonight,” said the veteran tactician.

“I thought it would go off the thread and we would get the chance to win, but we made a few three or four crucial mistakes at the wrong time, causing them to stretch the lead.”

Ginebra was at a striking distance late in the fourth at 90-88, but the Gin Kings made expensive defending mistakes so that San Miguel beer could pull away.

It also did not help that Ginebra could not go offensively, five games inside.

“We still couldn’t get a good shooting evening in this series. We did not shoot the ball well and I hope that it will come at some point – maybe Sunday, we will see,” Cone said.

Barangay Ginebra shot only 37 percent and struggled out of the charity, missed nine of their 34 free throw Petters.

Despite the following of 3-2, Cone remained optimistic of the chance of the Gin Kings and he emphasized that the series is not nearly over.

“The old cliché says it needs four to win. It doesn’t take three. It’s not a series of five games, it’s a seven-game series,” he said.

Kegel and the gin kings try to push the series to a game 7 when they take it at the same location on Sunday.
