Pawan Kalyan ensures that the government committee will tackle the issues of Uppada fishermen

Andhra Pradesh vice -prime minister Pawan Kalyan has assured that the government is taking steps to tackle the problems of fishermen in the Uppada region, in particular those that arise because of the impact of nearby pharmaceutical industries on their livelihood.

The vice-minister president acknowledges the hardships with which fishing families are confronted, said in a statement on Wednesday (24 September 2025) that although he was unable to meet fishermen personally because of the current legislative meeting, discussions with district and state level officials were initiated to find solutions.

A special committee will be formed, consisting of high officials of the Pollution Control Board, Fisheries Department, Revenue Department, the Kakinada District Collector, as well as representatives of fishermen and local leaders.

The committee will focus on resolving immediate issues, improving the means of existence and the development of infrastructure in coastal villages. It will also investigate a fee for losses, including the insurance payments for the families of 18 deceased fishermen and damage to boats in Uppada Fishing Harbor, he said that officials have been instructed to take quick action to guarantee timely payment.

Mr Kalyan also emphasized the granting of fishermen in Machilipatnam, Antarvedi and surrounding areas sufficient access to fishing grounds, which emphasized the importance of prioritizing these cases, even before the committee submits its formal recommendations.

“Under the leadership of Chief Minister n Chandababu Naidu, the coalition government is dedicated to provide support and safety to people who are confronted with hardships. The well -being of Uppada fishermen will be a priority and after the conclusion I will personally meet the fishermen to discuss all issues,” he said.
