Paul Merson talks about Benjamin Sesko and Nick Woltemade.
Manchester United signs Benjamin Sesko in the summer, with Newcastle United also offering the Slovenia International Striker.
When Nick Woltemade became surprisingly available after Bayern Munich failed with three Lowball offers, Eddie Howe dived to sign the international striker of Germany.
So which club has the best deal?
Paul Merson has no doubt about the issue of Nick Woltemade and Benjamin Sesko which of the couple will score the most goals this season.
Paul Merson talks to Sportskeeda for Bournemouth against Newcastle:
“This will be a good game to watch.
“Bournemouth Vliegen and Newcastle achieved their first victory last weekend.
“Nick Woltemade reminds me of Peter Crouch! He has a good brain, comes deep and gets people, that is literally played in the same way as Crouch. My only question is that Woltemade has to go back in the box much more. Sometimes he just gets involved in the structure.
“Based on what we have seen so far, you would be shocked if Woltemade did not score more goals this season than Sesko. He has two Wingers who will feed him so well, as they did in that victory over wolves.
“Man U, on the other hand, does not have that kind of wing players. Matheus Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo prefer a crack with goal than feed Sesko.
“I expect an entertaining game with many goals here, don’t miss them!
“Forecast: Bournemouth 2 Newcastle United 2”
I can’t really disagree with much of what Paul Merson has to say above.
Last season in the Bundesliga, Benjamin Sesko had an average goal every 185 minutes that he was on the field (2,399 Bundesliga minutes played in the 2024/25 season, scored 13 goals).
Last season in the Bundesliga, Nick Woltemade on average a goal every 135 minutes he was on the field (1,621 Bundesliga minutes played in the 2024/25 season, scored 12 goals).
Nick Woltemade is already 1-0 on top of Benjamin Sesko when it comes to scoring Premier League goals and what I have seen of the couple, I would certainly not exchange the big German for the man you sign.
I also agree that the Bournemouth competition is an entertaining competition, as well as a tough competition. Although I am sure that United will at least get one point.
The only thing I would not agree with with Paul Merson, are the Nick Woltemade comparisons with Peter Crouch.
The Newcastle star is almost as long as Crouch, but it is lazy to claim that they are similar players.
Nick Woltemade is much more in proportion than the lanky Peter Crouch and the Germany International drank the ball as one of his big strengths, the former Liverpool attacker had a decent touch but was unable to run with the ball.
