The added data is the result of a coordinated effort between Parx Racing Management, The PTHA and the Pennsylvania Horse Racing Commission, and reflects a shared commitment to maintaining racing opportunities during the challenges of winter racing in the Mid-Atlantic region.
Unpredictable weather is an unavoidable factor during the winter months, often requiring difficult but necessary cancellations. The additional dates in January are intended to recapture lost racing opportunities while providing stability for stakeholders, riders and fans.
“Winter racing always presents challenges, and flexibility is key,” said David Osojnak, Parx Director of Racing. “Adding these race days in January will allow us to respond constructively to the weather-related cancellations in December, while continuing to support our program and our riders to deliver a consistent racing product. We look to assist our riders wherever possible and look forward to them continuing to support our program by racing on these additional days.”
“These added race dates are about opportunity and balance,” said Jeffrey A. Matty Jr., executive director of PTHA. “If winter weather takes away racing days, it will impact owners, trainers and our overall backstretch community. This partnership will ensure those missed opportunities are restored in a fair and thoughtful manner. I would like to thank Parx Racing and the PHRC for working together to get these dates back on the calendar as quickly as possible, with a real and immediate impact for our riders.”
Additional race day information, including entry days and race conditions, will be released via standard Parx Racing communications and overnight stays. In addition, riders are encouraged to contact the Parx Racing Office with any questions.
