In this blog post, Dr. Eric Berg explains how you can never get cancer and he will give you 30 scientifically proven tips.

Transcript: The big problem with cancer is that I don’t think the conventional cancer model is correct. Over 70 years of cancer research, I’m talking trillions of dollars. The five-year survival rates have not changed. There is also not much enthusiasm to fund alternative research, unless it concerns chemo, radiation or surgery.

That’s a big problem if you’re trying to avoid or prevent cancer. In order to prevent cancer, you really have to understand cancer and understand exactly what it is, because the medical model says that cancer is a mutation, it’s a spontaneous mutation of your DNA and that basically means an alteration or change in the blueprint of your cells. The solution is to kill those cells and destroy those cells with chemotherapy, radiation or surgery. And that’s kind of the model of what the conventional view on cancer is, so that’s conventional.

Let’s look at another point of view on cancer, the metabolic point of view and cancer. In that model you do not first have a genetic mutation. Instead, you first have damage to the mitochondria. Those are the little energy factories in the cell, the first thing that happens. And then you can get a mutation later.

I’m trying to give you the basics behind cancer because if we don’t really understand the basics of it, all these recommendations won’t work because they’re based on the wrong problem.

What is the cancer cell? It is a cell where the ability for the mitochondria to work properly has been lost. The cancer cell has hijacked it. A very important thing about the mitochondria is that they need oxygen to work, but in cancer they can live without oxygen. If we go back in history, look at the main driver behind what is really going on. The point of this whole thing is that these cells are just trying to survive and they had to survive in different environments. With regard to oxygen, they actually created a Plan B. They created another system to obtain energy and that is called fermentation. This is why when diagnosing cancer they tried to evaluate the PET scan. The PET scan looks for areas in the body where there is hypermetabolism of glucose and it lights up because this cancer cell is fermenting like crazy and sucking up all the sugar like a huge, huge vacuum cleaner, just trying to suck up all this sugar to try to get energy that it’s trying to survive, and then the PET scan scans the body to see what areas are in this hypermetabolism of glucose or fermentation.

First you will get damaged in the mitochondria cells in a certain organ. For example, you and your smoker have been smoking for years and all the smoke goes into your lungs and one day you get a virus and get pneumonia. Pneumonia now acts as a spark now that you are diagnosed with lung cancer.

Another big trigger can be low levels of vitamin D, because vitamin D is the master regulator of the immune system and if you then let your vitamin D drop too low, that can be the trigger for colon cancer.

Now let’s look at the things you can do to actually prevent cancer.

  1. Increase vitamin D for immune function

It is very important in controlling your entire immune system. There are a few different cells, that’s quite a few different cells in the immune system that directly target cancer cells. There is some great data showing that to shrink tumors you need to get your vitamin D blood levels above 90, but I would keep your vitamin D levels between 60 and 80 at the very minimum. That way we can maintain adequate immune support because conventionally they use chemo and radiation and they also kill your immune system, but if you kill the immune system at the same time you prevent it from coming back because there is always a small amount of cancer cells that survive the chemo. We really need to maintain a strong immune system with vitamin D number.

  • Cold therapy. We add a stress to the body that forces our body to produce many more mitochondria. Just think about what happens when you go into this cold rising tamk or when you take a cold shower that your body has to maintain 98.6. You just stepped into a cold tank, it’s 50° or 40°, it’s freezing. What does your body have to do to maintain its temperature? It’s supposed to make the mitochondria just work like crazy, not to make energy, but just to make heat to counteract that. So it causes a lot of stress in your mitochondria and then causes the mitochondria to adapt and become stronger.
  • Intermittent fasting is probably the most important way to prevent cancer. I’m talking two meals a day, one meal a day, maybe once a month you can’t eat for three days or even five days. If we’re talking about damaged mitochondria being at the heart of this problem, then you would want to clean out all the damaged mitochondria. The best way to do this is through a condition called autophacy, a condition in which your body recycles old damaged cells, cell parts and mitochondria and turns them into new ones. So this is super therapeutic for continually generating new mitochondria and it’s one of the best ways to prevent cancer, especially because cancer causes the mitochondria.
  • Add herbs, garlic and onion. When you grill steak or meat on the grill, the charring of the meat and fat is carcinogenic to some extent, but if you add some herbs, garlic, thyme, sage or even onions, you have only counteracted that carcinogenic effect. This is very simple because these herbs contain all kinds of plant chemicals that protect you against cancer, but they also support the mitochondria.
  1. Avoid unnecessary CAT scans and X-rays. If you get a CAT scan or X-rays, you will receive radiation, something called ionized radiation. I was an X-ray technician. I’ve done portable x-rays in nursing homes for years and I’ve never worn a lead shield. I was exposed to a lot of radiation. I was stupid. I shouldn’t have done that. I just had a bunch of dental x-rays. I’ve had a lot of CAT scans because I had kidney stones a long time ago. So I had a lot of radiation, something that can actually damage your mitochondria. Maybe the request not to get an x-ray is so common and if you do get an x-ray, make sure you shield that thyroid and also if you’re going to get a CAT scan, see if they can do an MRI or ultrasound, just reduce the radiation.
  1. Ensure sufficient folic acid intake. Being deficient in folic acid is very similar to radiation exposure in terms of damage to your DNA. Make sure you get enough folic acid. Dark green leafy vegetables can fill you up. The liver contains folic acid.
  1. Intermittent use of methylene blue. It is one of the first drugs ever created. It’s actually a dye. It’s made synthetically from petroleum, but it does some very interesting things to your mitochondria. The pigment in this methylene blue helps absorb some of the free radicals from the electrons generated in the mitochondria and protects you. Take it intermittently. This applies to many different therapies, whether you’re doing intermittent fasting or intermittent cold therapy, because it adds a little stress to the body and then you can retreat and let the body recover. It’s just a better way to take things, including methylene blue.
  1. Prolonged fasting. Extended fasting is probably the most powerful of all these tips if you have had cancer, especially if you have a stage four cancer that is spreading and is serious. All you’re really doing at that point is extending the fast, and I’m talking about fasting for 20, 30 or more days in a row. The problem with that is that you may be very thin, frail, and old, and the thing is, you may not be able to survive that. So you would want to do what you can do and then back off – start eating again and then fast, but it’s not just extended fasting that you’re going to do if you had cancer, you’d put it on different herbal remedies.
