The American Parents Coalition has asked the Trump administration to investigate the YMCA into accusations of “illegal relative-based discrimination in its programs and policy.”
In one letter To health and human service secretary Robert F. Kennedy Jr., Minister of Education Linda McMahon, and secretary of housing and urban development Scott Turner, Alligh Marré, executive director of the American Parents Coalition, stated that the YMCA policy did not have young girls.
“The ymca policy to get rid of and imperfect young girls and those who choose to present as a gender other than their own, is opposed to the principles of the Federal Civil Rights Act and gender equality,” the letter said.
“It is morally wrong and legally unacceptable,” Marré added.
According to Fox NewsAn archived page of 3 July 2017 from the website of the YMCA was entitled: “How to make a safe space for LGBTQ+ Campers.”
“Make sure that all campers and employees have access to the facilities that are tailored to their gender identity and comfort within facilities and restrictions on resources,” said the page, although youth development professionals also recommend “gender neutral (or self -identified) pronouns when referring to guards, partners, family family
It also called on professionals to “lift stories from LGBTQ+ inclusion in training, marketing and camp activities.”
Another archived page of 7 June 2022, also called on the YMCA to unite people “regardless of their ability, age, cultural background, ethnicity, belief, gender expression, gender identity, ideology, income, national origin, race or sexual orientation.” The current YMCA website, however, states that “Y consists of people of all ages, of all backgrounds, who work side by side to strengthen communities. Together we work to ensure that everyone has the opportunity to achieve their full potential with dignity.” It also says that the “core values of the organization are caring, honesty, respect and responsibility – they guide everything we do.”
The coalition of the American Parents further claimed that the YMCA is breaking title IX, because it receives more than $ 600 million in government subsidies.
“There is little room for interpretation where the law is so explicit,” the letter said. “This broad prohibition underlines the role of the law in eliminating gender-based obstacles to the equal participation of women in all aspects of programming and activities, and takes care of ‘the women of America is something that is right of them-an equal opportunity. The ymca policy is not to enforce biological men to violate the holiness of spaces.’ ‘
The letter emphasized authorities at various YMCA locations in which women were forced to share facilities with men.
