Technology company Astronomer has enjoyed the recent Coldplay concert scandal by renting the ex-wife of the band frontman Chris Martin, Gwyneth Paltrow, as a “temporary spokesperson”.
The company made the headlines last week when the married CEO, Andy Byron, and HR Chef, Kristin Cabot, were recorded together on the Kuscam during a Coldplay concert.
Martin heard: “Or they have an affair or they are just very shy.”
Both later resigned from their positions at Astronomer and the Fallout got worldwide headlines and led to a series of internet memes.
Now the company seems to use its new internet fame as a promotion tool.
A company video caption “Thank you for your interest in astronomer” opens with actor Paltrow who says: “Astronomer has received many questions in recent days and they wanted me to answer the most common.”
A title on the screen reads: “Omg what the owner F.”
“Uniting the experience of performing data, ML and AI pipelines on a scale,” she replies.
“We are happy that so many people have a new interest in data automation. Regarding the other questions we have received – yes! There is still room available at our Beyond Analytics event in September.
Paltrow then talks about the company and the upcoming events.

Astronomer was a rather obscure technology company based in New York. It offers companies a platform that helps them organize their data.
Before Mrs. Cabot and Mr Byron resigned, the company posted a statement on his LinkedIn and X accounts that stated that it would conduct a formal investigation into the actions of the couple.
“Astronomer is dedicated to the values and culture that have led us since our foundation,” said it.
“Our leaders are expected to set the standard in both behavior and accountability.
“The board of directors has started a formal investigation into this issue and we will have extra details to share very soon.
“[Astronomer senior director, people] Alyssa Stoddard was not at the event and there were no other employees in the video.
“Andy Byron has made no explanation, reports that otherwise say are all incorrect.”
The company did not mention the coldplay concert in its statement.
Instead, it referred to an “event” and used careful, vague formulation such as “this issue”.
Now the company seems to have embraced the reason for its sudden fame and, perhaps in a deliberate movement, has chosen Paltrow because she is Martin’s ex-wife.
