Crystal Palace responded strongly after their appeal to the Europa League was restored, was not successful on Monday.
UEFA relegated the Eagles to the Conference League on July 11, after it was established that John Textor had control or influence in both Palace and the French club Lyon. Nottingham Forest has taken the place of the FA Cup winner in the Europa League.
De Court for Arbitrage in Sport (CAS) rejected Palace’s appeal this week and ruled that the textor had “decisive influence” on both the outfit of South Londs and Lyon at the time of the UEFA assessment.

Palace says: “Sporting Merit is made meaningless” by the verdict and claims that “it seems that certain clubs, organizations and individuals have a unique privilege and power”.
The statement continues “Multi-Club structures hid behind the Charade of a” blind trust “, while clubs such as ours, who have no connection with another club, prevents playing in the same competition.
“To worsen injustice, clubs that seem to have enormous informal arrangements can also participate and even play against each other.
“Although we respect the CAS tribunal members, the process is designed to seriously limit it and in our case to make it almost impossible to receive a fair hearing.
“The refusal of all disclosure requests to obtain correspondence between the relevant parties, the refusal to allow witness statements of those involved, and the general lack of formality and respect for the average decisions cannot be correctly challenged, which leads to predetermined results.
“UEFA’s decision has broader implications for the sporting board. A combination of poorly conceived regulations and their unequal application means that our brilliant fans will have the opportunity to see this team fight for the first time in our history in the Europa League.
“This should be a turning point for football.”
