Lahore: The Pakistan Hockey Federation (PHF) is confronted Geo -Nieuws On Thursday.

Collecting funds has been a challenge for a federation that does not yet have to pay the daily reimbursements of players. Sources showed that the PHF requires an extra PKR 100 million to organize a single edition of the Pro League.

Furthermore, the National Hockey Team is planned to participate in next year’s qualifying match, the Asian Champions Trophy and, if qualified, the World Cup.

The team is also expected to participate in the Olympic qualifications, the Asian games and various events from invitation, junior and age group.

In total, the PHF reportedly needs PKR 300-350 million annually to cover these events, which means that at least PKR 450 million must be increased every year to support activities.

Sources warned that if the federation does not demonstrate its financial capacity, it may have no choice but to look for further government support.

On Wednesday, the federal government approved a budget of PKR 250 million, specifically for the participation of the National Men’s Hockey Team at the FIH Pro League.

Of the total allocation of PKR 400 million for sports federations, this amount was provided to the PHF to guarantee the participation of the team.

The PHF had initially received a deadline of 12 August to confirm participation in the Pro League. However, the Federation asked for an extension to continue discussions with the government.

“Discussions with the government with regard to the Pro League are underway; good news will come soon,” said PHF President Tariq Bugti earlier this month.

“Fih had given a deadline of 12 August to inform, but we asked an extension until August 20,” he added.
