Chennai: The competition schedule for the Fih Hockey Men’s Junior World Cup was unveiled during a stars-littered ceremony, with the blockbuster Pakistan-India match that will be played here on November 29.
According to the recently announced schedule, Germany Germany will lock the defending champion Germany in Madurai with South Africa in the Curtain booster in Madurai on November 28, while Bitter Rivals Pakistan and India will start their campaigns against Switzerland and Chile later that day.
The two teams will then face each other in the collision with high octane, planned to be played the next day in the mayor Radhakrishnan Hockey Stadium.
The last match of Pakistan is planned against Chile on November 2.
Despite the announcement of the competition schedule, the participation of Pakistan in the mega event remains uncertain due to the recent cross-border tensions of the country with India.
Pakistan also withdrew from the Asia Cup 2025, which was played from 29 August to 7 September in Bihar, and was won by the hosts who crushed South Korea 4-1 in a one-sided final.
According to the sources, the federal government did not allow the national men’s team to cross the border for the tournament due to serious safety problems for the players.
“Indian Media has launched a ruthless smear campaign against Pakistan, while extremist groups openly issue threats for our players through various social media platforms,” had declared a public source of government.
“Given the current geopolitical climate and the rising risks for players safety, sending the team to India is simply not a feasible option,” the source had added.
