Pakistan makes short work of Proteas on route to series win – Cricket Fanatics Magazine

Pakistan has achieved series wins in both short formats while the Proteas have slumped to a massive defeat in the 3rd ODI in Faisalabad.

South Africa got off to a strong start with the openers adding 72 for the first wicket. However, the introduction of spin would predict how most of the rest of the innings would go.

After Salman Ali Agha struck to dismiss Lhuan-dre Pretorius, Quinton de Kock regularly lost partners at the other end, while legspinner Abrar Ahmed gained the upper hand against the inexperienced middle order.

Abrar’s four-wicket haul made a significant dent, and the Proteas were unable to recover from there. All 10 wickets fell for a total of 71 runs, while the visitors were bowled out for a paltry 143.

Apart from a first-over wicket for Nandre Burger, there was little success for the Proteas bowlers as Saim Ayub put on a show with boundaries around the ground.

It took the hosts half of their allotted overs to race to an easy win. While the Proteas have had their moments in the last six matches, they have to lick their wounds. However, the return of experienced names should give them a boost next time.

SA 143 all out in 37.5 overs (de Kock 53, Pretorius 39 – Abrar 10-1-27-4)

PAK 144/3 in 25.1 overs (Saïm 77)
