Pakistan announces online visa facility for 192 countries

Federal Investment Minister Qaiser Ahmed Sheikh reflected on Pakistan’s recent economic growth and shared plans for the development of the tourism sector. He said that under the new policy, citizens from 192 countries can apply for a visa online, while travelers from 120 countries will get a visa on arrival. These measures will promote ease of travel and boost the country’s tourism sector.

The federal minister announced this policy while speaking at the Sustainable Tourism Forum and Expo, jointly organized by the Federation of Pakistan Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FPCCI) and the Islamic Chamber of Commerce at a local hotel in Karachi. He said that Pakistan’s stock market is now among the best performing markets globally. With industrial investment gradually increasing, additional measures are needed to further strengthen the tourism sector.

FPCCI President Atif Ikram Sheikh emphasized the importance of tourism, which contributes 10 percent to the global economy, while also improving the country’s trade growth, creating jobs and increasing GDP (gross domestic product). He also mentioned the country’s rich culture and historical background and praised its scenic beauty.

FPCCI Senior Vice President Saqib Fayyaz Magoon noted the growth of Pakistan’s tourism sector, which still needs to be improved to reach its full potential. Islamic Chamber of Commerce Secretary General Sheikh Yousuf Hassan Khalawi called tourism part of a stronger economy, hinting that sustainable tourism will be a key factor in the country’s successful future.
