Paddy Pimblett reveals one UFC rule he would change

Paddy Pimblett is keen to change one rule in UFC fighting. The UFC currently does not allow stomps, kicks or knees to the head of a grounded opponent. While Pimblett (23-3) understands that stomping is illegal, he would prefer to see football kicks and knees to the head of a grounded opponent legalized. “The Baddy” wants fighters to be punished if they do a lazy takedown to get some rest.

“Football kicks and knees to the head of an opponent sitting on the ground,” Pimblett recently told Tom Aspinall. “…I don’t agree with stomping because your head can’t go anywhere, but a football kick where someone is on guard and you can move the legs and kick there, and the knees to the head of the opponent who is on the ground, so if someone does a sloppy takedown just to get a break, you should be able to knee him or her in the head.”Although knees to the head of a grounded opponent are illegal in the UFC, they are allowed in ONE Championship. Former UFC flyweight champion Demetrious Johnson has always been a big supporter of legalizing knees to the head of an opponent who is on the ground. Johnson’s wish came true when he joined ONE Championship. Ironically, Johnson suffered his only loss in the promotion to Adriano Moraes via a knee to the head while under house arrest. However, “Mighty Mouse” avenged the loss twice, winning a trilogy before retiring.
