According to Tony East of Forbes, Micah Potter will sign a non-guaranteed deal with the Pacers, with Garrison Mathews expected to be exempt from opening a roster spot.
Indiana needs frontcourt depth with Isaiah Jackson sidelined with a concussion, Tony Bradley limited with a thumb injury and James Wiseman nearing the end of his 10-day contract.
Dustin Dopirak of The Indianapolis Star reports that the Pacers will not be granted another hardship exception and that Potter’s deal is expected to extend through the rest of the season with a team option for next year.
The 27-year-old previously spent time in Detroit and Utah, where he played in 64 NBA games and averaged 4.3 points and 4.3 rebounds.
He last played for San Antonio’s G League affiliate in Austin, where he averaged 15.6 points and 9.6 rebounds.
Mathews, who joined Indiana on consecutive 10-day contracts before earning a standard deal, will be released without financial penalty because his contract was not guaranteed.
He appeared in 15 games, averaging 5.2 points in just over 13 minutes per game while shooting efficiently from the field and beyond the arc.
