Reality -TV star Matt Wright has been found guilty of two counts of an attempt to twist the judgment after a deadly helicopter crash.

But a jury of the Supreme Court in Darwin reached the agreement after a trial period of four weeks after a four -week trial period.

The Outback Wrangler star was accused of trying to cover evidence after the crash of February 2022 in which his co-star killed Chris “Willow” Wilson and left pilot Sebastian Robinson a Parapegic.

The couple was on a crocodile-egg mission in Arnhem Land in the northern territory, with Wilson on a line under the helicopter to be dropped on crocodile nests in remote swamp.

The Air Transport Safety Bureau concluded that the helicopter no longer had fuel, so that the engine was switched off and the machine crashed on the floor.

Wright was accused of lying to crash researchers about the amount of fuel in the machine, to have Robinson falsify to falsify flying hours and ask a friend to “torch” the maintenance release of the helicopter.

Wright was unmoved in the dock when the judgments were delivered and his defender said that his client would appeal against the judgments.

Despite the persecution, he was looking for the detention in view of the seriousness of the violations.

The charges against Wright did not relate to the cause of the accident and the prosecution did not claim that he was responsible for the crash, the death of Wilson or the injuries of Robinson.

Public Prosecutors claimed that Wright was afraid that researchers would learn that the flight hours of his helicopters were regularly disconnected to extend the flight hours to the official thresholds and paperwork for matching.

Senior defense adviser David Edwardson KC worked hard to focus on Robinson, who was painted as a “party animal” of cocaine trade.

Wright had previously not found guilty of all three counts of an attempt to distort justice.

The jury for the process, held before acting the Custice Allan Klap on Friday, found Wright guilty of two counts.

But they could not reach an agreement on a third after they started on Thursday with deliberation.

Wright considered that count and asked a friend to ‘torch’ the maintenance release of the crashed helicopter in an attempt to prevent it from being in the hands of the air crash researchers.

Wright is convicted on October 6.
