The last arch on the US Open Junior Championships was bound today, with the 38 Americans who participated in Singles in New York earlier this month in Singles Photo gallery at the tennis recruitment network. I often get questions about where the photos we can take, so I am grateful that I have this exhaust valve to display them. Thank you, of course, to my husband Paul Ballard, who has taken all these photos. He spends a lot of his time in Junior Tennis as Site Director, but the US Open is a tournament where I have the luxury of a photographer who freed me to actually watch competitions.

There was a huge shocker of a result to start the ITA Women’s All-American Championships today, with top seeds and NCAA finalist DJ Bennett from Auburn who fell on Savannah Dada-Mascoll from Appalachian State 6-2, 2-6, 6-2. Dada-Mascoll, a senior from Great Britain, is 106 in the ranking of the preseason, but did not have to go through the qualification, I assume because it represents the Sun Belt conference.

Bennett, who also lost in the first round of doubles as the number 2 seed with Ashton Bowers, was one of the five seeds to lose in the first round of the women, as you can see in the full results below.

A pre-qualifyer will guarantee the round of 16, with Deniz Dilek from Georgia and Emma Kamper from Utah who played each other on Thursday after each had picked up their sixth victories in five days in the first round of today.
