Oshie on Odd Reason Blues may have exchanged him to capitals

Former NHL attacker TJ Oshie has shed new light on the trade that sent him from St. Louis Blues to the Capitals in Washington, which revealed an unexpected reason behind the blockbuster.

Talk about the Spittin ‘Chiclets podcastOshie explained that his use of accelerated recovery performance (ARP)-a electrotherapy tool that combines electrical currents with active editing range can have played a role in the decision of the blues to move it.

“I actually went into it because I was so injured,” Oshie said. When he noticed that he lifted heavy weights in the gym and his back was in rough form as a result of: “I used it before one competition and my back pain disappeared.”

Oshie was so impressed by the results that he wanted to run his training regime. He admitted that after informing the blues that he would go back on team training in favor of ARP sessions, it decided to exchange him.

“Maybe a part of the reason I was traded from St. Louis,” he said. “I told them that I no longer did the team’s training. I did the ARP.”

The crew at Spittin ‘Chiclets had a hard time believing that the reason why the blues would choose to continue, but Oshie was serious when he said he believed that it was part of the motivation for the organization to go a different direction.

The trade worked great for the capitals

The move sent Oshie to Washington in exchange for Troy Brouwer, Phoenix Copley and a third round Pick, in which Brouwer only played one season and Copley appeared in just two games before the blues.

Oshie would later help the capitals to win the Stanley Cup in 2018, which shows that the trade was a turning point in his career and a huge victory for Washington.

The blues, if they actually exchange Oshie because he wanted to try a different type of training, look like they dropped the ball on that decision.
