O’Reilly reveals ‘dream’ as Man City closes gap on Arsenal

Man City youngster Nico O’Reilly says it is a “dream” of his to win the Premier League title after leading the side to victory over Newcastle United on Saturday night.

The 20-year-old full-back, back in midfield, scored a first-half brace either side of a Lewis Hall equalizer to seal a 2-1 win over the Magpies at home.

City is now just two points behind leaders Arsenal, who play Tottenham Hotspur in the North London Derby on Sunday.

“I’m over the moon about tonight,” O’Reilly told TNT Sports. “The win was the most important thing to close the gap and apply as much pressure as possible. Also very happy with the two goals.”

He added: “It’s a dream of mine to win something like this. There are still a lot of games to go. We have to take each game as it comes. I’m enjoying every moment and absorbing everything.”

Arsenal are still favorites to win the Premier League title race, but O’Reilly is fully confident Man City can overtake them in the standings.

“Certainly. We always believe that we can win games. We had a week’s break, so we were able to prepare well for this match. We just have to keep going.”

Asked by the BBC whether City are enjoying the title race, he replied: “We are loving it, enjoying every moment. We had a week’s break and used it to refuel and we have another one coming.” [before facing Leeds next Saturday].”
