Altman said Open AI expects approximately $1.4 trillion in data center commitments over the next eight years. This figure reflects a long-term plan to secure the computing power needed for future AI models and services, and adds new fuel to the debate around OpenAI’s rating and long-term profitability.

Key figures and plans shared by Altman:

  • Projected ARR in 2025: above $20 billion
  • Target by 2030: “hundreds of billions” in annual revenue
  • Commitments to data centers: approximately $1.4 trillion over eight years
  • Business customers are already using OpenAI: about a million

Altman also outlined several new revenue streams that OpenAI expects to build on in the coming years:

  • A stronger enterprise offering for large companies
  • Consumer devices, including a palm-sized AI device developed in collaboration with the company Jony Ive
  • Robotics projects powered by advanced AI models
  • A new focus on scientific discovery through the OpenAI for Science initiative
  • A possible move to AI-focused cloud services, where OpenAI would sell computing capacity directly to companies and individual users

Altman admitted that financing such an aggressive plan would likely require more than just current revenues. He said OpenAI may be able to raise additional equity or take on new loans to support its expansion.

As these ambitions grow, analysts say OpenAI rating will depend not only on its AI leadership, but also on how efficiently it can build, operate, and monetize this massive AI infrastructure over the next decade.
