Philippe Clement, who took over from Liam Manning, has tried to steady the ship but has struggled to achieve results. Norwich City have won just one match in their last five games. draw their last game in the middle of the week with Sheffield United 1-1.
All results need to improve for the Canaries, but above all they need to find a way to win at Carrow Road after recording just one win at home all season.
In contrast, Southampton have gone from strength to strength since he changed managers.
For Tonda Eckert took control, the Saints found themselves in a similar position to Norwich City, but have since climbed the table, winning five of their last six games in the league.
Weekday, Southampton won againbeating West Brom 3–2 as their first half goals were enough to prevent a late comeback. The Saints know a win in Norfolk can take them into the top six and will look to continue their best form in the league.
Eckert’s side have scored at least three goals in four of their last five games and things could quickly get out of hand if Norwich City cannot perform.
Here, a handful of our writers make their predictions for the game…
Matt Bottomley
“Norwich City are having a torrid time in a tunnel that seems to have no end. Although they appear to be a more organized team under new management, they have yet to find any spark that would turn them into a truly dangerous side.
“On the other hand, everything is going well for Southampton and they seem to be becoming the team they most expected at the start of the season. Under Tonda Eckert they cannot stop scoring and I don’t see that stopping at Carrow Road.”
“Possibly the worst time for Norwich to take on Southampton and there is only one winner in this match, the only question is how many.”
Prediction: Norwich City 1-3 Southampton
James Ray
“It’s safe to say that Southampton are coming into this at great speed. They won’t be afraid of a showdown with a Norwich City side still teetering in the relegation zone.
“NCFC has shown signs of improvement under Philippe Clement, but there are still glaring weaknesses. He is also not helped by injuries, so the Saints will be keen to take advantage of that.”
“The hosts must try to get the crowd involved to upset the visitors, but I think Tonda Eckert’s men have too much composure and quality to really be upset by that. As they have done recently, I can see them taking control early and securing the win.”
Prediction: Norwich City 1-3 Southampton
