Laguna Verde is located in the midst of the rugged landscapes of Bolivia, is a fascinating face to see. However, under his enchanting emerald green waters is a deadly secret – it is one of the most toxic lakes in the world. Located at the foot of the Majestic Licancabur volcano in the Eduardo Avaroa Andes Fauna National Reserve, this remarkable more than 4,300 meters above sea level lives.

Scientists have studied the hard environment of the lake to gain insight into how life could survive elsewhere in similar circumstances, such as on Mars.

The extreme climate, high UV radiation and unique chemical composition of the region offer invaluable knowledge for astrobiologists who are investigating alien environments.

Despite the dangers of Laguna Verde, it continues to attract travelers who travel through Bolivia’s remote Altiplano region to wonder about its fascinating colors.

Visitors are encouraged to appreciate the lake of a safe distance, because contact with the water can be dangerous. The high altitude is also risks, where many tourists suffering from altitude sickness if they are not properly acclimatized.
