On the program in week 9 of the EIHL | Pro Hockey News

Week 9 of the Elite Ice Hockey League season is a big week in the Challenge Cup, with the group stage coming to an end and the qualifying teams being confirmed.

On Saturday evening, Dundee Stars host Glasgow Clan at the DIA in what is essentially a knockout match. The math is simple: the winner keeps their Cup hopes alive, while the loser is eliminated. If the Stars win after extra time or a shootout, the final positions in Group B will be decided on Sunday when Dundee travel to Belfast. That match could decide first place and a place in the semi-finals, or leave the Giants needing a win to secure top spot in the group.

In the league match, Coventry Blaze host Guildford Flames in midweek action on Wednesday. There are two key matches on Friday: Cardiff Devils host Belfast Giants in the reverse order of their recent meeting in Northern Ireland, while Nottingham Panthers and Manchester Storm – separated by just two points in the top four – meet at the Motorpoint Arena.

Saturday’s league schedule sees the Panthers head north to Fife, while Manchester return to home ice to take on Coventry.

On Sunday, league leaders Sheffield Steelers welcome Cardiff Devils in their only match of the weekend. Fife travel south to take on Coventry, and Guildford – who will be hoping to have some players back from injury – are at home to Glasgow Clan.
