Olympiacos welcome Bayer Leverkusen to the Karaiskakis Stadium tonight for the first leg of their Champions League play-off.

The Greek side will be aiming for a repeat of the league match between the teams, when Olympaicos claimed a 2-0 victory in Athens.

Olympiacos became the first ever Greek team to win a UEFA club competition with success in the Conference League in 2023-24 and are now looking to eclipse their best ever Champions League season – a run to the semi-finals in 1998-99.

José Luis Mendilibar’s team are currently second in the Greek Super League, two points behind leaders AEK Athens.

The hosts have to wait nervously for Mehdi Taremi, who missed the weekend match against Levadiakos. The Iranian forward is the club’s co-top scorer in all competitions this season, with 16 goals, alongside Ayoub El Kaabi.

Franciso Ortega also missed the weekend’s match and remains a doubt, while midfielder Theofanis Bakoulas is yet to make his debut after suffering a knee injury at former club Rio Ave ahead of his move in January.
