Ahead of Sunday’s game between the Edmonton Oilers and Vegas Golden Knights, head coach Kris Knoblauch confirmed that goaltender Tristan Jarry will be out for at least two weeks. “Nothing special, he’ll be away for a few weeks. We won’t see him until New Year’s at some point.”
Knoblauch wouldn’t say anything specific about what the injury is or how he got hurt.
Connor Ingram, who starts Sunday against Vegas, will be asked to fill a role for the Oilers. These duties will be split between Ingram and Calvin Pickard for the remainder of the season. “Any time you have a new player, especially your starting goaltender, you want him to feel comfortable. Nothing is better than making him comfortable. Playing a good defensive game, not giving up opportunities and keeping everything outside the perimeter as much as possible. Hopefully we can get an early lead and take away the nerves.”
The Oilers feel like Ingram will do just fine with Jarry out. “He’s played a lot of NHL games, obviously not in a while, not since last year, but we think he’s someone who has shown he’s a good goaltender, which adds to the depth of our goaltender.”
