The 2008 third-round pick scored 276 goals and 559 points en route to his milestone game. He has 19 goals and 38 points for the Oilers. He has spent most of his career in the top six but has taken on a smaller role in Edmonton, primarily as a third-line centre. In his 1,000th game, he centered the fourth line with Isaac Howard and David Tomasek. However, he was in the starting lineup and got first duty with Connor McDavid and Leon Draisaitl.
Oilers arrived at the rink in style
The Oilers surprised Henrique by wearing tailored shirts in honor of their teammate. The front of the jersey read “RICO” in a special racing font, a tribute to his love of NASCAR and motorsports. The back of the shirt featured milestones he has achieved during his career, including where he was drafted and key dates such as his first NHL goal.
The Oilers also came onto the ice for pre-game warm-ups, all dressed up Henrique’s name and number on their jerseys. These were cool gestures from the organization, making this an unforgettable evening for the experienced attacker.
