Manchester United have allowed yet another talented youngster to move out on loan during this winter window.
Busy January
On transfer deadline day, Jacob Devaney, James Scanlon, Ethan Wheatley and Gabriele Biancheri all secured senior loans.
One youngster who hasn’t had much playing time so far this season is Sekou Kone.
United career to date
The Malian youth international was signed by United in the summer of 2024 and originally played at the youth international level.
It took him some time to settle down, but soon he started showing glimpses of his talent. Kone also impressed in brief cameos during the club’s post-season tour of Asia.
Kone was denied first-team opportunities during the pre-season tour of the United States and suffered a fractured eye socket while playing for the academy in August.
The Peoples Person reported that after returning from injury, Kone was on trial with FC Lausanne Sport last month and was close to securing a move.

United’s official website has subsequently reported that Manchester United’s Sekou Kone has joined Lausanne-Sport on loan until the end of the season, subject to international clearance.
They also add that “the exciting young midfielder will get a taste of first-team football in the Swiss Super League.”

Kone will also join fellow United youngster Enzo Kana-Biyik, who is on loan with the Swiss team this season.
Lausanne also commented on their move official websitewhich states: “FC Lausanne-Sport is pleased to announce the signing of the loan deal of Malian defensive midfielder Sékou Koné from Manchester United until the end of the 2025-2026 season.”
They also commented on his training spell at the club in January, claiming: “Sékou Koné quickly impressed the Lausanne staff. His ball-winning skills, stamina and technical ability led the club to sign the defensive midfielder on loan until the end of the season.”
